Despite being the last month of the year, December is not less attractive than other months in the year for both Cambodians and international visitors. The biggest event of this time is the International Half Marathon which is considered one of the most boisterous festivals in this country. If your tour in Cambodia in December, don't miss amazing chance to join with locals.
Angkor Wat International Half Marathon
- Location: Angkor Wat complex, Siem Reap, Cambodia.
- Meaning: The festival is held to support a ban on the manufacture and inhumane use of antipersonnel mine.
The festival, taking place inside the spectacular setting of Angkor Wat, a World Heritage Site designated by UNESCO in 1992, attracts thousands of people from all walks of life. In terms of the race’s format, there are 5 types of races encompassing 21 km International Half Marathon, 10 km Road Race, 3 km Family Course, 21 km Wheel Chair and 10 km Artificial Limbs. This race becomes an opportunity not to be missed by you, especially, when the historical shrines and green jungle shinning in the ponds and moats are very much there to cast you under a magical spell. It is a refreshing event, very popular in demand, and therefore a day before the festival, Angkor Wat Bike Race and Rally is arranged by Village Focus International through VF-Cambodia. Out of two, the first bike race will be of 30 km taking place next to the temple complex, and the second one will consist of a 100km race nearby a second and third loop. Entry fees and additional financial support foster independence among landmine victims by helping provide prosthetic limbs and social reintegration programs. Your participation in this important event will be very grateful and appreciated and it is an occasion for you to contribute to saving the lives of young Cambodians contracting HIV/AIDS, as well as step up a campaign against the life-risking actions.
